Collage Cups

One of my collages looks like the face of an owl from afar. But as you look more closely it is light under a bridge I cut from an image of a bowl. I lined up a man running in front of water behind a window. Lots of disparate vertical lines, lining up and going in the same direction. Windows, becoming columns, becoming women.

 

How do you take two unrelated graphics or items and make them connect through common lines or colors? I look at what is in front, what is in back, what is light, what is dark, what is rough and what is smooth.

 

Patching pants is another play: does the fabric go on the inside of the hole or the outside? There is the tear, and then the patch and then the embroidery.
